Sid

Sid loves a good piano concerto ;-)

Sid is looking for a quiet home with a cat-loving dog. Sid has lived with 3 different dogs and seems to feel they are kindred spirits. Although he has enjoyed the companionship of a few easygoing cats, other cats have bullied him in the past and now he's leery of cats. He is much happier with a dog and is ideal for a dog owner who would like a cat but didn't know if it would work. Try this boy!

Sid is an independent cat who likes to set the attention pace with humans. When he's in the mood for loving he headbutts, purrs, and climbs into his human's lap. If he's not in the mood he will get a bit overstimulated and signal it isn't the right time, and needs his human to understand that. However he never seems to feel that way about his dog!

Sadly Sid's had a rough life. He was traumatized as a kitten in his original home (with the first dog that he LOVED) by a family member who didn't like cats. Sid wasn't doing anything wrong, the person just didn't like cats to be inside and was outvoted by the other family members to have one. The person was resentful and yelled at Sid and not long after Sid lost both his home and his doggy friend. (This illustrates why CARA always wants to meet everyone that will live with an animal and know that everyone is on-board.) He went into a multicat foster home for a couple of years and had a few cat friends but otherwise avoided the other cats and became more of a loner. His second dog home with a foster mom was great and his foster mom liked him a lot. While living with her Sid was adopted by himself and things seemed to finally be going his way, but after two years his adopter lost her job and had to give up Sid. Unfortunately his foster with the second dog had adopted another cat by then and couldn't take him back due to rental limits. Sid has been living in another temporary home with a third dog (which he also loves) for a few months but there's a big ol' cat in the home and Sid is afraid of him.

Sid has a small health issue, a nominal heart murmur (grade 1). Testing shows that his heart is only slightly enlarged and he has no arythmia. Sid is thriving and contented and will probably have a long, healthy life. As a precaution he takes a low-dose of Atenelol which costs only $2 per month and he's easy to pill. His vet periodically states he probably doesn't need to take it since the murmur is so mild but is sticking with status quo for now since it's working.

Sid is declawed, has PURRFECT litterbox habits, and a good appetite. He loves lying in high spots and looking out the window. He also loves lying under furniture, it feels protected and comforting to him.
