HOW YOU CAN HELP
There is something that anyone can do to help rescue homeless
cats and dogs. Some volunteer their time to help with publicity
or at adoption shows, some donate supplies or money, and some contribute
by writing up or collecting pet care information. Here are some
ways that you can help.
DONATE
We rely on adoption fees and donations to pay for vet care for
all our rescued animals. Checks can be sent to CARA at
3351 Corridor Market Place, Suite 400-90, Laurel, MD 20724.
You will receive
a receipt for tax purposes plus
licks and purrs from our pups
and kitties. If you are donating to
Tracy's Heart fund to help
sick and disabled kitties, please note that on your donation.
We are an approved 501(c)3 charitable organization.
You can donate online using a credit card at our
Network for Good website, or you can donate to CARA through PayPal.
VOLUNTEER
Do you have any special skills? Or maybe something you'd
like to try your hand at? We need people who can handle publicity,
fundraising, logistics, medicines, and writing as well as cat and dog
fostering and handling. If you are interested, please contact
our volunteer coordinator.
SHOP WITH CARA
We have various items for sale, including CARA T-shirts, rescue
car magnets, decorative tiles, and our very special "Cards by Kids".
All purchases help support our rescued kitties and doggies. Check out
the CARA Shopping page.
DONATE YOUR CAR
Or your truck, motorcycle, snowmobile - running or not. Donation Line LLC
assist us in obtaining the car, selling it, and sending a portion of the
proceeds to CARA. Here's how.
GET A SPAY/NEUTER LICENSE PLATE
You can get a special Maryland license plate and help support CARA's spay and
neuter effort. Send your name and mailing address, plus a check for $25
made out to CARA, to us (CARA, 3351 Corridor Market Place, Suite 400-90,
Laurel, MD 20724). Then we'll send you the Maryland state form certifying
that we received the $25 donation from you. You can then mail or take
the form to the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, along with a
check for $25 made out to the MVA, to get your new
plates. And you'll let everyone know you are a pet lover and support
spay and neuter!
USE GOOD SEARCH
CARA can earn a penny every time you searched the Internet.
GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue,
about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You
use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!,
so you get great results. Just go to www.goodsearch. com and be sure
to enter Companion Animal Rescue Alliance as the charity you want to
support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about
$7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And be sure to spread
the word.
CHOOSE FROM OUR WISHLIST
As a new group we need lots of supplies and help. Check
our wishlist page for
all kinds of ideas and suggestions to choose from.
SPONSOR A CAT OR DOG
You can give a little or a lot to help provide medical
care for a particular rescued animal. As little as $5 will pay to
vaccinate a kitten against distemper. Use our
Sponsorship page to see how you can help.
All our rescued animals get
whatever vet care they need, even expensive tests and surgery when
required.
FOSTER A CAT OR DOG
Perhaps you have rescued a stray on your own, or
you are thinking about adding to your household but would like to
try it out before making that committment. Fostering is very
rewarding, from the love you receive from your foster cat or
dog, to seeing them placed in a great forever home.
If you would like more information, please contact our
volunteer coordinator.
SHOP ONLINE
If you purchase items online, you can help raise
money for CARA at the same time. Go to the iGive
portal and a percentage of anything you buy can be set aside for
CARA. Safe and easy!
SPAY AND NEUTER
Of course, we encourage everyone to spay and neuter
their pets. This is probably the most important thing that
every pet owner can do. We would love it if we "went out of
business" because there were no more unwanted pets to rescue!
So pass the word!
Please contact us - we look
forward to hearing from you.
