Cookie says "See, ain't we cute together?"

Penney and Cookie are two girls who lost their home due to foreclosure. The home had twelve cats and two dogs that needed help, and CARA was able to take four cats and the two dogs from the group. Their wonderful personalities were evident at the time we met them.

Although Penney is sixteen years old, you'd never know it. She is still playful and has no health issues. Penney really seems like she's sixteen going on three! When she arrived in her foster mom's home, she joined a group of four cats that are much younger. Within the first day she "took charge" of the group! (She rushed and rolled each, and sent them scurrying, but there were no injuries.) After that there was no other hostility from her toward them, they all live together quite peaceably. It's like she was saying "OK, here I am, and don't you think that I'm a pushover just because I have a few years on you!" She's very loving, and craves lap time. If you lay down she'll either crawl up on your chest to snuggle, or gently (but persistently!) headbutt you to pet her. She's got a lovely, gentle nature, and would fit well into any home. She would be perfect for an older person who wants a nice cat that enjoys human companionship anytime, anywhere. She loves sleeping in high spots as well as hidden niches. Her litterbox habits are absolutely perfect, NO issues. Many of her teeth were removed before she came to CARA but it doesn't prevent her from eating dry food, and she has a great appetite. She will talk to you enthusiastically when you are fixing her dinner (especially if it's wet food), and dance around you until you put the food down for her. She's just a lovely get-along girl that could go to a home with other cats or dogs. It would be nice to pair her with Cookie since they get along well and seem to enjoy each other, but they could also be separated.

Cookie is another sweetheart, and is twelve years old. Like Penney, she doesn't seem her age... she has no health issues, and has perfect litterbox habits. She is quite playful, loves the cat teaser toy and will pounce on a stuffed toy with catnip in it. She has crumpled ears that make her look like a Scottish Fold. Her ears were crumpled as a result of having bad ear mites when she was young. She scratched so much that hematomas occurred, and caused her ears to foldover. She has long since been treated for the mites and there are no ongoing issues. She's a big girl that walks slowly with a swaying gait that, along with those ears, is very endearing... she's adorable! It makes you want to pick her up and cuddle her... and she's thrilled for you to do it, since she too craves lap time and petting. She too would be perfect for an older person who wants a nice cat that enjoys human companionship anytime, anywhere.

Cookie likes Penney and lives peaceably with her, and they could be adopted together. She's not good with the other fosters in her home... she seems to be a little jealous and that makes her aggressive toward them, so she shouldn't live with another adult cat that she doesn't know already (Penney, or Lexi or Mishu, the other two from her group). Adult cats frequently will accept young kittens even if they won't accept other adults, so Cookie might accept a kitten. Cookie does very well with dogs. She has lived nicely with two dogs that she didn't know before in her foster home, so she should be fine with nice, cat-friendly dogs.

Please consider giving one or both of these two lovely girls a chance... they are like fine wine that has aged very well and is extraordinarily and surprisingly good. They have a lot to offer... and we have no reason to think anything except they have several good years ahead. You would get a lot of love and enjoyment from opening your heart and home to them. (Seniors: they would be especially perfect for you.... loving to be loved anytime, anywhere! There's NO independent, "Not Interested Now" nature in these two!)

If you'd like to meet Cookie or Penney, please check our upcoming show schedule, and email us beforehand at cara_adopt@yahoo.com to make sure they will be at the store to me you!
